Dumpster Blank

After a harrowing adventure, Blue Blankie (aka Suck Thumb Blankie, Blank, Mermaid Blankie, Shredder, Blankirific) has a new name.  It shall henceforth be known as "Dumpster Blank".

After our trip to the aquarium in Denver, we took the girls back to the hotel for a nap.
Nap time at our house only happens WITH special blankets that are as old as the girls themselves.

Maren could not find her blanket she calls "Blue Blankie".

Our room had been cleaned.

After tearing the room apart, Dallas and I looked at each other and without words knew that the blankie known as "Shredder" had been mistaken by housekeeping for an old rag and gone out with the trash.

You know the scene at the dump in Toy Story 3 where the toys go through the incinerator?
Well...Maren had just seen the movie...TWICE!

Enter..."Superdaddy".  In very broken Spanish which included the word "Azul" - thank you Dora!
it was determined that our worst fear was indeed true.  Luckily the housekeeper remembered where she disposed of the rag and Superdaddy was able to successfully rescue "Blank" from the 104º dumpster!

Now that we had "Mermaid Blankie" back, only one problem remained.  It had been in the dumpster in some pretty smelly garbage and although Maren was still awake, there was no way that she was getting this blanket before it had been thoroughly washed!

Luckily the hotel had guest laundry so I spent the next hour washing "Dumpster Blank" with LOTs of detergent and HOT water!

Needless to say, she never slept.  She was still awake when we heard the dumpster being emptied into the trash truck...WHEW!

It will be a sad, sad, day when the last of "Blank" is gone, but for now, thanks to the heroic efforts of "Superdaddy" it has lived to see another day.
